Gamespot or IGN?

For 3 years now, one of my best friends have been arguing back and fourth about which online website, gamespot.com or ign.com, is better at rating games. I personally like ign just because I believe they are less bias towards the type of game that is coming out. I don't have any problem with gamespot, but my friend seems to think that they are much more critical on games. I had a big problem with this recently when my friend to me that gamespot gave Gears of War 3 a 9.5. I like the gears games but I wasn't conviced that it was all the hype that everyone made it out to be so I looked up the Ign review. Ign still gave the game a 9.0 but I noticed that the reviewer pointed out alot more problems that he saw during his time playing the game. It seemed to me that he was more critical of the game. So my question to you is, which do you prefer?, why do you like that website more?
